Beyond Japan 2024 will be divided into two courses: "Innovation Course" targeting a wide range of startups and "Deep Tech Course" specializing in specific industries. Participants have 4 choices of cities to apply from.
We have also added a brand new "Filmaker Course" for film and video production creators who want to make their mark on the world stage.
Los Angeles is a hub where diverse and influential consumers congregate. The city boasts the No.1 logistics volume in North America with flourishing in industries ranging from entertainment, media, and climate tech to gaming, music, aerospace, and aviation.
Part of the program will be held in Silicon Valley.
Austin is a city of tech and music. In addition to precision machinery such as semiconductors, it has characteristics similar to the early days of Silicon Valley with strong connections to the aerospace/military industry.
San Diego is the largest life science cluster on the West Coast. The semiconductor and medical device industries are also concentrated here, and "Academia, Industry, and Government" collaboration is growing.
Aerospace, IT, and tech clusters drive Colorado's high economic growth rate. The region is growing rapidly as a startup hub for many talented tech workers.
The program will be held in Los Angeles and Denver.

Los Angeles, home to the film capital Hollywood (also known as Tinsel Town), serves as the base for the entire film industry, from major film studios to independent production companies. It is both the starting point and the ultimate destination for all movies.
Programs are held in several film industry hub areas scattered throughout Los Angeles, the home of entertainment.

Screening and Interviews (Virtual)

The program provided opportunities for individual matchmaking and pitching with local industry professionals in the U.S. Some of the participating startups were able to sign various contracts with companies in the U.S., hire local personnel, and obtain funding through the program.
Beyond JAPAN Zero to X is a program designed to nurture entrepreneurs and leaders who will drive the next generation of innovation and contribute to Japan's growth strategy. This program provides personalized assistance and training specifically tailored to participants' grasp of startup phases and the North American business landscape. It aims to empower participants to take proactive steps and optimize their effectiveness.
This program enables participants to maximize their time efficiently, prioritizing business success and optimal outcomes. It focuses on independent tasks such as validating business ideas, crafting MVPs, and acquiring customers. Support and training are readily available as required to aid participants in their endeavors.
Local business professionals provide mentoring, training, workshops, networking, individual matching, and other business opportunities (Conducted in English). They also provide consultation (Conducted in Japanese and English) on issues and concerns unique to overseas expansion from Japan due to differences in business practices between Japan and the U.S.
To make it easier for early-stage startup founders to participate, the Beyond Japan Program and the Japanese government fully subsidizes the entire program and accommodation during the US training period. The decision of these two categories have been decided by the Japanese government.
- Early stage startups: Expenses for accommodation and program are covered
- Late stage startups: Expenses for the program are covered.
The applicant must fall into one of the following categories
The CEO, Founder and CXO of Japanese companies who are considering a start-up or expansion into the U.S.
Those who have a concrete business idea to launch their business in the U.S.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old
One participant per startup
This program is offered as a part of the J-StarX program. Please note that you can only participate in one J-StarX program in a given fiscal year.
